Refining characters

With these I tried to limit the detail as much as possible

Although there aren't any living pharaohs anymore, I decided to draw one for Giza because I think most people associate pyramids with pharaohs more than anything else. Also, I just had a thought! What if I just have my characters on the postcards without the buildings and things in the background? I think they aren't really necessary because I think the characters all communicate the places enough just by what they are wearing/doing..

As suggested by Adam and Joe in the progress crit on Friday, I need to work out a realistic design in terms of time expenditure - If I discard everything in the background and focus only on the characters then I'll have more time to play around on illustrator, to also experiment with the gradient mesh/wrap to add texture (as suggested by Matt) and everything else illustrator has to offer!
