-Create new illustrations for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland's 150th anniversary year.

What is the brief asking you to do about it/them?

-Create a new cover and up to 2 interior page illustrations.

What is the brief trying to achieve?
-Enchant a whole new readership by recreating a new image of Alice/interpreting the story in a new way.

Who will benefit?
-Macmillan as they will get a new cover and illustrations for free

-I will also benefit as I will get the experience of working with a live/children's book illustration brief.

What is the message?

-Celebration of the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Who is the audience?

-Parents of girls aged 5-9

-Parents of boys aged 5-9

-Gift givers such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.

How will the message be delivered?

-Book cover and up to 2 illustrations of scenes from book.

Can you foresee any problems in responding to the brief?

-Every illustrator will probably most likely be doing this brief so my designs will have to be really different to make it stand out from the crowd.

-Alice has been interpreted differently so many times before so there is a risk of copying someone else's work.

Why I chose this brief:
-I am interested in children's illustrations
-I am interested in becoming a children's book illustrator as well as a vis dev artist for animated feature films
-I enjoy the challenge of creating illustrations based on texts and stories, capturing the scenes and atmospheres of the story
