Observational Drawing

In the last visual language lesson before winter break, we all sat down to draw what was in front of us:
This was the first drawing that I did of Zara's bag. I really like the use of geometric and sharp shapes of my collage iceberg/penguin as I thought it looked quite different and more interesting. So here I tried to emulate the look with pencil and washes of ink. I also left the sleeve coming out of the bag like how it looked to show the kind of flow-y material the jumper is made out of.

I like how fluid the lines look for the sleeve, so for my second one I used really strong and confident brush strokes of ink to outline the shapes. I also attempted to add the pattern of the bag.

I decided to re-draw my last drawing with a different tool to see how this would affect the look of it. Here I used Lewis' brush pen. I found it quite hard to control the flow of the ink but I quite like the texture this gives me.

For my last drawing, I decided to try making something that I could use to repeat the pattern on her bag. I did this by scrunching up a little bit of paper and applying it like a stamp with ink. I found this lesson quite useful as it helped to open my eyes more to the different styles and image making processes and tools I could use and how different materials flow in real life.
