MOVING PICTURES: Final Resolutions & Context

Because of how short my teasers are, I found looking for the right kind of audio quite difficult. Most of the ones I found didn't sound high quality enough for my liking or that it required you to purchase it before use. Then Sophie H told me about FreeSound; a site which has quite a large selection of free audio clips available to use.

After listening to quite a few of eerie sounding background clips and trying them out with my animations, I found out that really simple audios work the best. Ones that had too many sounds, instruments, voices etc. didn't really work too well with the duration of my teasers - However, I think if my animations were a lot longer, more complex sounding audios would possibly work.

In the end I decided to go with the ending of this clip. I like the build up before the final piano note at the end - like building up tension and suspense and then abruptly cutting it off, creating that cliffhanger type of feeling that I want with the ending. I made the piano in time with the title for that extra dramatic effect. Considering I have never made an animation or use Adobe After Effects before, I am really pleased with my final resolutions! I think both of my moving pictures and printed pictures responses work well as a set, which is really great.

Coraline Teaser 3 from Aghnia Mardiyah on Vimeo.

As Neil Gaiman's 'Coraline' is a children's book with its audience primarily consisting of children age 10+, I would imagine my teaser trailers be shown predominantly on kids channels and during the adverts of catch up shows, across various devices and kids cinema.

Comments from peers:

Very relevant to the author.
Looks very professional.
Clearly have confident control of After Effects.
The music is well timed - creates an ominous feeling.
Put into context - can see you're thinking about real life and where your work would lie.
